VS Sassoon – Ultimate Salon Dryer VSP5560CA Review, Photos & Competition

VS Sassoon Ultimate Salon Dryer 2200 Angle Crop FEATURED

Hair dryers are one of those beauty tools that you need to invest in, but investing doesn’t always mean spending a fortune. To me, VS Sassoon is one of those companies who bring good quality products to the masses because of their affordable prices. The only investment you have to make is finding the right hair dryer for you.

VS Sassoon have created specific products to form their Premier Collection, a selection of professional salon style tools. Previously I have reviewed the Curl Magic from this collection and that was an absolute treat to use (and I still use it A LOT!). Today I am going to review one of their newest releases that you will see appearing on store shelves in the coming weeks. The Ultimate Salon Dryer was released some time ago but this newly updated release includes improved functions and capabilities. As usual, I will let the company explain the nitty gritty below but here are my thoughts on the product.

What I Say ….

  • First thing I noticed was how unbelievably light it felt in my hand. It was so easy to hold and was completely balanced, not feeling weighed down at one particular end.
  • The dark purple colour is just gorgeous. I don’t see a need for professional beauty tools to be boring black. Have a little fun, live life to the fullest ….. show some colour!
  • The slide switches are really easy to use but takes some getting used to. All the hair dryers I have ever used work on a sliding scale, starting at off, and with each click it gets higher or hotter. The switches on this hair dryer are slightly different. The middle is off, and then you move either right or left depending on how hot or powerful you want it.
  • This tool is powerful. Due to the lack of weight I felt when picking it up, I assumed the worst. I thought there would be no grunt. I was wrong. This baby is powerful.
  • I had zero vibrator hands using this dryer. That sounds a little wrong but if you have ever used a hair dryer straight after getting out of the shower, you should know what I mean. It may be a form of electrocution or it may just be the fact the hair dryer motor isn’t encased in a hard enough body, either way, when I use a hair dryer for more than 10 minutes my hands are left vibrating, as if I never put the hair dryer down. It is a really annoying feeling, but luckily I didn’t get that once with this hair dryer. Awesomesauce (shout out to Jacie for infecting me with that word!).
  • IT COMES WITH A DIFFUSER!! Ok, I know that probably doesn’t sound like such a big deal, but have you ever tried to buy a hair dryer that accepts a diffuser nozzle? Have you? Because it is hard. I have tried. Not to worry though, because for once there is a quality hair dryer that comes with BOTH the concentrator nozzle and a diffuser. I can finally do all those hair styles that called for a diffuser. Win.
  • Still on the diffuser ….. this one is actually cooler than most. It has two settings allowing for variable airflow. I haven’t quite worked out why I would want that but I am sure they wouldn’t have spent extra time including it if it wasn’t important. Yeah.
  • The ionic technology really did leave my hair so soft. My hair can sometimes feel dried out after blow drying, so this was a welcome result for me.
  • The way the cord attaches to the hair dryer is very cool. It is way more flexible than the usual ‘swivel’ cords. This one does a full 360.
  • One thing I am a little down on, but not too important to most people, is that it doesn’t have a hanging hook at the end of the handle. Due to my severe lack of storage I usually hang my beauty tools up on 3M hooks in the bathroom. When a tool doesn’t have little loops for hanging it makes it a little difficult.

In all, this hair dryer looks good, works wonderfully and it isn’t even AU $75.
