The Sunsilk Co-Creations brand is continuing to grow and their latest addition release comes from parisian ‘style & length expert’, Teddy Charles. This new range, however, is no Teddy’s first with Sunsilk. In fact, he has previously released two other collections, ‘Plumped Up Volume’ in the green packaging, and ‘Longer and Stronger’ in black packaging. Now Teddy has come out with Frizz and Weather Defence, and I have to say that out of the 3, this one sounds just right for me.
I have fine hair. A lot of it, but it is fine. My hair is completely subject to weather conditions, and it doesn’t take much to turn it frizzy and limp. Living in Sydney means I get to experience multiple climates each week (sometimes even in the one day!), so it would be great to prevent that change before it happens. Let’s see how they went!
Frizz & Weather Defence Shampoo and Conditioner
Easily the first thing I noticed about these are the scent, which is slightly bubblegum-esque. It is a bit sweet but not overwhelming and once you rinse your hair out it is pretty much gone. I love that my hair doesn’t feel dried out after using the shampoo (even with two washes, which is unnecessary unless you have been rolling around in mud) and the conditioner makes my hair easy to comb almost instantly. Afterwards, when my hair is dry, there is a slightly noticeable reduction in frizz.
One thing that annoys me to no end is the packaging of the conditioner. Yes, it looks sleek, but because of the weird shape on the top it can’t be stood with the lid up (and no, it can’t lean against anything either because the bottle is too curved). You may be thinking that is such a lame annoyance, but I have to share my one shower with two other humans and 6 dogs. We don’t have any shelves/racks in the shower so everything has to be placed on the floor. One of those humans is male and works with greasy cars in a warehouse all day, so you can imagine how filthy he is. The last thing I want to think about is all that filth pooling in water around my beauty products, seeping in through the lid and eventually ending up being put in my hair (and don’t think it doesn’t happen, because it does, but I didn’t want to scar you by taking photos). Ye, not a good picture!
If you are blessed to have your own shower, or maybe even a shelf/rack to put your products on, than these products are superb.
The curved top of the conditioner causes me nightmares
Defence Frizz Control Light Cream
This product could be known as the ‘Leave-In Conditioner’ product of the range, but instead of adding moisture it actually prevents moisture evaporating from the hair. That might sound like the same thing but it isn’t. Basically, it is far lighter in the hair and doesn’t weight it down. Having fine hair means I can almost never use a leave-in conditioner because they are just too heavy. I found this product to actually be fairly weightless. It didn’t give me any extra volume, which I never assumed it would, but it definitely didn’t weigh it down any more than usual.
The fragrance is a similar bubblegum scent but because this product is designed to be left in your hair it does linger. I like the scent so it is great for me but if you are scent-sensitive maybe you are best to avoid this one.
Weather Protection and Shine Serum
Serums are usually my go-to post washing hair products. I feel they are one of the things that really do help to make my hair feel smoother, which is necessary with fine hair. I can’t comment as to whether it truly does protect my hair from UV rays, which it claims to do, because as we all know UV rays cannot exactly be seen by the naked eye. I don’t have any colour in my hair at the moment but if you do than protecting yourself from UV is very important.
My hair does feel smooth (as it should when using serum) but it also remains shiny for most of the day. I even find it looks shiny if I just leave my hair to dry naturally, which is strange because usually my hair is only shiny after blowdrying it. I also love that this serum has no lid on the packaging. You actually just turn the pump and it opens the valve on the inside. Nifty!
What Sunsilk Say ….
The Frizz & Weather Defence formula works to control frizz and protects from dryness for 24 hours, it also contains weather shielding technology and a UV filter. It provides dual protection against the effects and changes in weather conditions and balances the level of moisture in the hair, helping to shield against damaging UV rays. The formula includes trehalose to reduce the effects of humidity on the hair fibre by controlling the interaction between water and proteins in the hair. Found in a variety of plants it also works to protect hair from dehydration by binding water in the hair fibres reducing damage caused by dryness, heat and cold.

I don’t know if this will help but I got one of these from Crazy Clarks years ago and it where I store my dozens of bottles and jars in the shower. The link is an ebay sale for an ikea one but you can find these in most cheapie stores. Its just to show you what I meant!

I have a towel rack next to my shower wall that I hooked the top of that onto, but I suppose you could install a hook into the ceiling to help suspend the bag. We have 9 foot ceilings, so that was a no go for us! The beauty of it is, I can seperate all the compartments for different people (we used to have 5 in my house) or different type of product.
Hope that helps!

Hi Gladys, Thanks so much for the nifty tip. Unfortunately my bathroom ceiling is in a bad way due to leaking from the roof, so I am afraid suspending anything from it, even a feather, may not work. We are currently trialling trays that have suction cups but most of my bottled products are proving too heavy. The search continues!
i’ve been wanting to try sunsilk’s weather defense variant.. but before i spend my money on it, is it really effective? my hair really is quite frizzy.. hope you can help me gladys. thanks in advance!
Hi Carla,
I think it all comes down to WHY your hair is frizzy. This line is ideal for those who have problems with frizz caused by weather issues, such as humidity, rain, etc. If you have naturally frizzy hair, I believe it will calm it a little bit after washing but ultimately you have more going on then that so you may need something a bit stronger. However, that is just my opinion and I am not an expert. I think the best way to find out would be to trial the shampoo and conditioner for a couple weeks.
