MoroccanOil is one of those products that completely exploded out of no where a couple of years ago. Now, every brand seems to have their own version but surprisingly there haven’t been many Australian brands to take the leap into Argan Oil based hair products. In fact, even after googling for an hour I couldn’t find one other brand. It would seem Seven Wonders Natural Hair Care are the lone brave soldiers on our Australian shores.

Seven Wonders are an already well established Australian owned brand who produce salon quality hair products. They use organic ingredients and stay away from harmful chemicals. The addition of the Moroccan Treatment range is another horse in their stable, but one that will hopefully capture a nice chunk of the competitive market.

For those unfamiliar with MoroccanOil or any Argan Oil products, you may be wondering what the hype is all about. To put it simply, Argan Oil is supposably the bees knees in hair care because it can hydrate and repair the hair follicle. Ultimately it gives you all shine and no greasiness. So, does it work? That is the question.

What I Say ….

  • The packaging is simple and classic with amber tinted, cylinder shaped bottles. The look suits the product, natural and uncomplicated.
  • The first time I smelt the products I loved it. There was a somewhat masculine scent, kind of woody and earthy but not overpowering. It really appealed to me that first time. Unfortunately the second time I used it, and all subsequent times, I hated the smell. I don’t know what changed but from then on it smelt like dough. Raw dough. If you are in the baking business you may love this!
  • Both the shampoo and conditioner was on the thicker end of the scale when it comes to formula. This is something I usually like but unfortunately it didn’t spread through my hair easily, so I found I had to use a palm full to get the same feeling I would get from a 50c piece size of another shampoo. I have fine hair but a lot of it, so I think this would work better for those with a lesser amount of fine hair. I wouldn’t recommend it for thick hair.
  • Once I had enough shampoo in my hair that I felt was the right amount, it did wash easily. There was no foaming or lathering so that instantly told me there really are none of those ‘bad’ chemicals. It does however contain Sodium Lauryl Sarcosinate which sounds like Sodium Laurel Sulphate but in fact it is very different (see a cosmetic description here).
  • After the first use of the Shampoo and Conditioner I found my hair to be soft, silky and noticeably less frizzy. The following uses unfortunately did not produce the same results and I actually found my hair to be a lot dryer. I used to have oily hair so I would have loved this a few years ago but as I age I am finding my hair to be lacking those essential oils.

Argan Oil products truly have been a total miss with me. I have never been able to get the intended result and I am starting to think my hair is a freak of nature. If you have had good experiences with Argan Oil products than I would highly recommend giving this one a go because I have had the same results from this product as I have from MoroccanOil, so that tells me they must do the same thing.
