Sunday Funday Poll – Which skin conditions do you suffer from?

For those that suffer from skin conditions, it really can be an all year battle. However, certain climates and weather changes can effect some conditioners more than others. Right now we are all in the middle of yet another season change. The Northern Hemisphere are moving into winter, while the Southern Hemisphere move into summer. This is what has prompted todays poll.

If you do suffer from a skin condition, I would love to know what it is. This could be really beneficial for my posts moving forward because I want to make sure I am including everyone, and it is hard to do without knowing much about all you lovely people. I would also love to know if your condition changes with the weather. What makes it worse? What makes it better? Hopefully with your answers I can get some great articles up to help you out.

My Answer: As a child I had a lot of blackheads mostly on my nose. As a teenager I suffered from a mix of Psoriasis and Eczema on my body. Luckily I grew out of my conditions as I got older but I am always inspecting my arms and legs where I used to have the problems. The only problem I suffer from now is general breakouts like the occasional pimple or whitehead, usually when I have been misbehaving with my diet or if I have been using a that is product wrong for my skin.

I suffer from Blepharitis. It’s the peeling, flaking of my eyelid, just at the crease. Some days is worse then other, and I can’t tell why, as I haven’t been wearing eyeshadow for a few days, and no difference when I wear it or not. I read that it is a bacterial overgrowth, caused by exces oil, allergic reaction or lice infestation. I don’t have excess oil as my skin is super dry, never oily. I haven’t had lice since I’m 3 years old. I clean my makeup brushes after every use, change of face washcloth (to pad dry after cleansing) after every use, etc etc. I can only think about a allergic reaction. One day, I apllied NYX eyeshadow base, and NYX eyeshadow together, and my eyelid was burning like hell untill I took it off. I can use NYX eyeshadow with another eyeshadow base it’s fine, I can use NYX eyeshadow base with another eyeshadow brand and it’s fine, but apparently both together that day didn’t work :s.
I’m thinking about visiting a dermatologist soon about it. Untill now I’ve cleaned my eyelid with my gentle face cleanser, and applied eyecream on it.

Wow G that is soooooo interesting. I can imagine how utterly painful and annoying it can be for you at times. The NYX scenario is really strange. I wonder if there is an ingredient in their products that your skin can’t take a double dose of, or something?

I definitely think you should see a dermatologist. There may very well be something you could do to ease the symptoms or maybe even you can tackle the bacterial problem in your system. Thank-you so much for sharing your story with us.

    • It could be diet related too! Maybe see a naturopath?

Ive suffered from eczema since I was a teenager. Generally it gets worse in the cold and damp and it gets out of control if I’m anywhere near mold. At its worst it literally covered every inch of my body from my neck to my knees and manifests as lots of overlapping brown peels circles. I’ve nevere found a cure apart from living somewhere warm sadly – if only I was rich enough to move with the sun! I feel sorry for anyone that suffers from skin conditions because it can be confidence destroying and it’s so difficult to find the causes and fix them as they’re quite often out of your control

  3. Keratosis Pilaris (chicken skin) on the upper arms!

  4. I suffer from acne along my chin and jaw, and the pill worked for a few years and then my skin just stopped responding. I’m too scared to go on one of those hardcore acne pills and dry out the skin all over my body though, so I just use Mario Badescu acne-fighting products and heavy duty concealers. I also get patches of eczema in the crooks of my arm, armpits and other joints in Summer and sometimes on my hands from stress.

    • I’m the same silhouette :(

I’ve found the best luck with:

Seeing a specialist skin naturopath. Turns out I was/am very deficient in iron and zinc. She’s also prescribed me a special omega tablet called seabuckthorn.

My skin has improved a LOT!

Clarisonic, cleared up my skin tonnes.

Rosehip oil – great for scarring on chin / helps zits heal quicker.

Dermalogica microfoliant – has salicylic acid which helps zap zits.

I find that when I’m eating a really clean diet my hormonal acne is much better too.

Ah, that’s just my two cents anyway :) XO

Well it sounds like you have a whole host of conditions you are battling. Have you ever been to a Dermatologist?
