M.A.C Cosmetics - Glitter & Ice Holiday 2011 Collection Mineralize Eyeshadow and Dazzleglass

After tempting you yesterdays with the newest collections from M.A.C Cosmetics, I want to focus a little more on the one that has left me daydreaming, Glitter & Ice.

The first thing that really stood out to me about this collection is the obvious White packaging. I think it looks superb and plays into the collections winter theme perfectly.

Today I am showing you two of the Mineralize Eyeshadows and one of the new Dazzleglass releases.

Mineralize Eyeshadow

AU $42 / US $19.50 from November 2011

Sad confession, I have never owned a M.A.C Cosmetics Mineralize eyeshadow before. I have wanted one for as long as I can remember, but my luck at finding the colours I want hasn’t been great. Actually, it hasn’t happened at all. I am always too late to the party!

Mineralize Eyeshadows: Shimmermint and Snow Season

Shimmermint

Limited Edition new release

Official Description: Pale green mélange

What I Say: Shimmer ahoy! The mix of mint green, pale aqua and some streaks of a darker blue shade has its beauty amplified by the multi-coloured, super-fine glitter dust. The colour pay off is brilliant and even a talentless hack like me can get it to apply nicely. I would go as far as to say there is NO fall-out from this product, and I have been applying it with my fingers and no primer.

One thing I have noticed is that if you use it a bit wet, and really blend it, it kind of has this iridescent ‘mermaids tale’ sheen to it. It is just sooooo pretty.

Snow Season

Limited Edition new release

Official Description: Soft taupe mélange

What I Say: Being the neutral lover that I am, Snow Season was the instant stand-out for me in the initial pictures. Colours of silver, rosy bronze and shimmering cream combine to create a delicate, pale taupe. The shimmer factor is far less than Shimmermint, and for that reason I feel this would be suited to a wider range of people.

I was surprised how pigmented this shade was (being such a light colour and all), however I did find it easy to ‘over blend’, resulting in it loosing the intensity of the colour I liked when first applied. It is a beautiful colour and one I will be using as a base and around the inner corners of my eye because the nude sparkle is divine for daytime looks.

Dazzleglass

AU $45 / US $18 from November 2011

Moving on with the sad confessions, I have never owned a Dazzleglass either. I am glad that this hue is my first one to try because it gives me an idea of the texture before committing to a bolder shade.

Glitter & Ice

Limited Edition new release

Official Description: Light Nude with White and Gold Pearl

What I Say: The official description really says it all. In my opinion, the barely there nude shade does not work with my skin all by itself, but over a deeper nude lipstick it looks a lot better. The shimmer is superfine and adds a good boost to an otherwise sleek and sticky gloss.

While the colour is hard for me to judge, the texture is not. It lasts a really long time and I was pleasantly surprised that it did not dry out my lips like most high-shine glosses do. It is sticky, so if you aren’t down with stickies than this one wouldn’t be for you. The last part goes without saying if you are familiar with Dazzleglass, but it is a dream to apply. The brush tip applicator is actually better than some lip brushes I have, and it makes it easy to stay ‘between-the-lines’, which is hard with my near invisible lip line. In all, this is a great everyday, no fuss gloss if you want lots of shine and a noticeable pout.

They’re pretty, but I simply can’t justify the cost of MAC makeup. :(

  4. Angel says:

I did not like the shades as a woman these shades do not compliment my medium skin tone. I love MAC and have plenty of it but I will have to pass on this one. :(

Thanks for commenting Angel. I can understand how this frosty collection may not be for everyone. It is very shimmer focused, so I think that puts an age-limit on its appeal as well.
