Last month I started a new little monthly segment that showcases my favourite new release beauty products for the month. This month has been huge for launches, at last count 50 new products launching in April came across my desk and it is no easy feat picking my favourites.

Nevertheless, here are the products that won me over.

Hair

Nioxin

One area in haircare that will be big this year is addressing the concerns of people with hair fall. I am one of those people and let me tell you, having naturally thin hair that keeps thinning is not a problem I would wish on anyone. Nioxin is a leading professional haircare range that has been available internationally for sometime. I hear whispers about it but never really knew about it until it arrived on our shore this month. The Nioxin Three-Part Systems come in a range of options for all hair concerns and they are prescribed specifically for you by a hair professional.

John Frieda – FRIZZ-EASE Brush Range

Can you ever have too many hair brushes? In my opinion, no. Every hair brush has a different use, and if you are anything like me, you lose them all the time as well. The new range of hair brushes from John Frieda are specifically designed to reduce frizz, leaving hair shiny and smooth. The 5 piece range includes a Paddle Brush, Cushion Brush, Vented Brush, Small Round Brush and a Large Round Brush.

Available now from Priceline (Australia), Drugstore.com (USA) and Superdrug (UK)

Nails

Fing’rs – Flirt Nail Bling

The next big thing in nail decals are bling, and Fing’rs have just released two very cool designs to make your nails sparkle. The decals stick on quickly with no drying time, to give your nails an instant 3D feel. Each pack contains 14 decals so you can match the right size to your nail. Available in Zebra or Rainbow print.

Layla Cosmetics – Magneffect

I have been waiting for soooo long for Layla Cosmetics to bring their amazing magnetic nail polish to Australia, and the wait is over. Yippee!! The italian cosmetic brand is huge amongst nail fanatics globally, but getting our hands on it in Australia was next to impossible until this month. First off the bench is Magneffect magnetic nail polish. It is nail art at it’s simplest. All you have to do is paint it on your nails, flip over the lid and hover above your nail for 5-10 seconds. Your freshly painted nails will instantly transform into an eye-catching pattern. There are 24 metallic shades to choose from you will never get bored of watching the polish do its thing. Hours of fun guaranteed.

Makeup

Rimmel London – Wake Me Up Foundation

A foundation specifically targeted at tired skin? Yep, that is exciting to me. I always wake up looking like I need another 10 hours sleep, even if I go to bed at 5.30pm. This foundation is designed for people like me with its anti-fatigure properties. It is lightweight and minimises pores, plus it has illuminating ingredients to make your skin look radiant. On top of all that, it has SPF 15 which is an essential for me. Tick, tick, tick. A+ Rimmel.

On sale now at drugstores and discount department stores.

Revlon – ColorBurst Lip Butter

If you haven’t heard of these yet than you must be avoiding every magazine, blog and female in the world. This is probably the most well-known beauty release to happen in Australia this month, and I think it is safe to say that it is because all the American beauty fans have  been going on about them for months.  Thankfully, they are finally here and they have been selling like hotcakes. The 20 shade collection combines the nourishing care of a lip balm with the colour impact of a lipstick. Delicious names like Creme Brulee, Lollipop and Strawberry Shortcake have had me liking my lips non-stop.

On sale now from department stores, mass variety retailers and drugstores.

Australis Cosmetics – Multi Mega Lash Mascara

I love big lashes but I am terrible at applying false lashes, so a mascara that can give me a va-va-voom is a winner in my books. This new mascara from Australis has a deep black, glossy finish and it is buildable for natural looking volume. It dries fast and the tubing formula washes off easily without leaving you with panda eyes. It is quickly becoming my go-to daily mascara.

On sale now from Big W, Kmart, Priceline and selected pharmacies.

NARS – Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser

Another long awaited arrival to Australia is the NARS tinted moisturiser. According to Francois Nars, the Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser is different to others because of its serum-like consistency and feel, and because of the added anti-aging ingredients. I don’t know about all that science stuff but I do know that I am loving the sheer, translucent finish that makes my skin really glow. It might cover my flaws all that much, but it makes me look bright and healthy. Definitely a winner if you are wanting a REALLY good everyday, easy-to-use face product, but just keep in mind the Australian release doesn’t contain SPF so don’t forget to apply that separately.

On sale April 30 exclusively from Mecca Cosmetica (Australia). Available now from Sephora (USA), John Lewis and Space NK (UK)

Avon – Shine Attract Lipstick

I may love this product for the completely wrong reasons but we all know packaging and innovative gimmics are the first thing that will draw me in. Avon have nailed it with their new Shine Attract Lipstick, which contains a rich lip colour surrounded by a hydrating clear gel. Combine them together and you get some seriously luscious looking lips, but other than that, I just can’t stop staring at them. Avon, you are a genius.

Skincare

Trilogy – Rosehip Oil Antioxidant+

If you are already a fan of Rosehip Oil, the new Rosehip Oil Antioxidant+ will probably blow you away. Trilogy have advanced their already powerful award-winning Rosehip Oil with the addition of red berry super antioxidants. Think of it as double strength, boosting everything that was good about Rosehip Oil before. The natural skincare product is great for fighting premature aging caused by free radicals, and as the environment around us gets worse, so does our skin. Consider this product your savour!

Estée Lauder – Re-Nutriv Re-Creation

One of the most beautifully packaged skincare products I have seen to date are the new Re-Nutriv Re-Creation sets. There are two sets, one for face and one for eyes, and each are designed to be used morning and night. The Re-Nutriv Re-Creation Face Creme & Night Serum set contains a rich restorative cream for day and a nourishing serum for night. The Re-Nutriv Re-Creation Eye Balm & Night Serum For Eyes teams a silky balm for day with a revitalising serum for night. Use both sets together for the ultimate in luxurious skincare. Oh and don’t forget, Mother’s Day is just around the corner and these sets would make PERFECT gifts!
