The collection additions consist of 8 new colours and 2 limited editions. The limited edition colours are available for 6 months before being swapped for another 2. Genius idea.
Before I show you the swatches and summery of 5 of the new colours, I want to share with you my overall thoughts of the product.
What I Say ….
The Colour Inject Mineral Lipsticks have a great deal going for them at such a little price (AU $12.95 rrp). The lipstick is formulated to include Kakadu Plum (known for being chockfull of Vitamin C), Vitamin E, Evening Primrose and the very important SPF 15.
As I have mentioned before my lips are in terrible condition due to my severe lack of consuming liquids. Most people with tragic eating disorders are more hydrated than I. So lipsticks are a tough cosmetic for me to wear. You can see this in my swatches as I still have some minor flaking even after exfoliating daily. However, these lipsticks proved their nourishing effects to be evident when I am wearing them for a long period of time. When wearing lipstick I will usually dry out quicker than a glass of water having a sponge put in it. These lipsticks last quite a few hours for me before having to reapply, but I eat a lot so if you aren’t a guts like me they will probably last you way longer.
I also found the lipsticks to be smooth and silky without being sticky. I have been racking my brain trying to find a negative about them but I really can’t. They are a great size, the formula really works for me and their packaging is so up my alley. Hello, black with a hot pink foil band = FUN!
Now lets get to business with swatches of 5 of the 8 new shades.
Charleston
A beautiful purple-pink that is great for brightening up the lips. I would wear this with a nice neutral eye and very light cheeks.
Jitterbug
To me this is a fun red that isn’t too strong and works well for a light skin tone like me. If you are afraid to try red lipstick this is a great introduction colour.
Macarena
I am not usually one to care for a brown lipstick but there is something about this one that weakens my firewall. Maybe it is the glossy sheen or the slightly caramel undertone. Hell, it might just be the name that brings back great memories of me as a 12 year old dancing my little heart out at Bar Mitzvahs.
Ballet
Candy Pink if I have ever seen one. A really light colour that I thought would work well with my skin tone but looking at the photo’s I think it may just be a tad too light for my liking. I do tend to lean towards a more stand out colour on my lips because they are quite big and I have somehow convinced myself I can pull it off. In summery, I cannot make up my mind if I like it or not. Actually, now that I think about it, I think this colour would work for someone fair (like me) but with more pink undertones and not yellow.
Twist
No joke, this is the exact colour of my lips naturally, just with a bit of shimmer and gloss. When I was first trying to apply it I rubbed it across my lips frantically yelling “OH MY GOD, THERE IS NO PIGMENT”. I then did a light swipe across my hand and to my surprise there was heaps of pigment. I couldn’t believe I had found the exact colour of my lips in a lipstick. Does that ever happen in a lifetime? Either way, this lipstick is 100% perfect for me. I like the colour of my lips so the fact I can get a smooth, glossy, shimmery lipstick version is just awesome.
