My First Bridesmaid Experience At A Wedding

vintage wedding cake toppers

I have been to two weddings in my life. The first one was a promotion we ran at the radio station I used to work for, so I am not sure if that really counts seeing as though I was working and not a guest. The second one however was my brothers, and it happened just the other weekend on January 22.

I know many of you were wondering where I had been the last couple of weeks and I am terribly sorry for disappearing on you. Hopefully this post will explain a little bit about why that happened, but mostly I am telling you about this wedding so I can share with you my first every bridesmaid hair and make-up.

MAKE UP FOR EVER – Australia’s First Official MUFE Boutique

Make Up For Ever La Boheme Collection Palette

For the longest time I have dreamt about Make Up For Ever opening a boutique in Australia. Well, my dream is one step closer because Australia has just received its very first Make Up For Ever store-within-a-store. If you have been to the select few Sephora locations, including one of my favourites Sephora at The Venetian in Las Vegas, you will have seen the impressive Make Up For Ever store-within-a-store concept. It is a bold, industrial-esque construction featuring hard metals, traincases and some of the best indoor lighting you could ever apply makeup with. Now you will find this concept in our very own backyard, right here in Sydney, Australia.

A while ago I told you about PM Studio, a cosmetics store in Sydney that has brought Make Up For Ever into the lives of some very grateful Australians. The great thing about PM Studio is they, like me, believe Make Up For Ever deserves to be heard in Australia. We all know MUFE is an amazing brand but very few realise that it is actually available here. Now we have our own MUFE boutique and boy does this mean some amazing things for Australian fans.

Sephora Haul USA 2011 – The Missing Haul

Last week I showed you my long lost nail polish haul from my last trip to the USA in 2011. Stupidly, I also had a long lost Sephora haul stashed away in the same bag as the nail polish. If you aren’t familiar, or simply forgot, my last trip to the USA had me shopping up a storm from Sephora. There was Haul Part 1 and then Haul Part 2, so I guess this could be considered Part 3.

Here were my final Sephora purchases.

Nivea Visage – Daily Essentials Refreshing Facial Cleansing Wipes Review

Nivea Visage Refreshing Facial Cleansing Wipes

I have done a few reviews in the past on different facial cleansing wipes, including WOTNOT and Clean & Clear, but I always like to share new finds. This time, it is the Refreshing Facial Cleansing Wipes from the Nivea Visage Daily Essentials range.

Despite my love for skincare and taking the time to apply my 12 assorted creams and serums twice a day, there are some nights I just can’t be bothered. We all have them don’t we. It is late, or I am drunk, or in a bad mood, or I didn’t eat dinner until 9pm so now I am just bloated and need to lie down ….. I have an excuse for everything. So on those nights, I reach for a facial cleansing wipe. I also like to use facial cleansing wipes to remove majority of my makeup before using a regular cleanser. I believe the latter mentioned use of these wipes is why I go through so many packets each month. Oh well, just gives me more chances to review the new ones.

Old Magazine Beauty Ads – 19 Magazine from 1973

19 Magazine June 1973 Cover

I love looking at beauty ads in magazines. Modern magazines are now filled with them, often coming close to taking up 50% of the entire magazine, but that wasn’t how it was 30 odd years ago. How do I know? During the holiday season my mother and I started to address her hoarding of unnecessary memories. In one of the many piles of junk, we came across some old women’s interest magazines from when she was a young lady. Today I am going to show you the ads from an issue of 19 Magazine from June 1973.

The front cover

What Is 19 Magazine?

19 Magazine was a women’s interest magazine produced by IPC Magazines in London. It was sold in many countries, including Australia (for just 50 cents!), New Zealand, Rhodesia (which I think is now known as Republic of Zimbabwe), Nigeria, Canada and Sweden.

The topics covered included beauty, fashion, fictional stories and a heavy focus on music.
