Dove – Visible Beauty Hand Cream Review

Dove Visible Beauty Hand Cream

Last week I began really getting into Hand Creams. It stemmed from my mothers review of Be Genki Serenity Hand Cream. Of course I loved that one too but being the beauty addict I am I can’t just stop at one.

I was lucky enough to receive a sample of the new Dove Visible Beauty Hand Cream so I thought that was the perfect place to start. The packaging really stood out to me because it uses softer taupe colours and a frosted lid. Beware, I am such a packaging whore. If something looks good on the outside I tend to like it before I even try it. Surely I am not alone there? And maybe that is why I am so unlucky in love. Hrmm, I will ponder that one. Moving on.

What I say …..

The cream itself is light, almost like a gel-cream formula and it spreads really quickly so you only need a little squeeze. You can feel it absorb as you rub it in and after a few seconds  you’re left with only a slight veil that makes your hands feel really silky. It doesn’t make your hands sticky and I could handle things straight away without them slipping away. The smell is the only thing that lingers and because I really like it, it doesn’t bother me. I am not sure what the scent is but it starts clean & a little zesty, then finishes with a light floral note.

Of course everything I like about this hand cream seems rather superficial so far but I have actually noticed a dramatic change in the texture of my hands over the past week. Usually the skin around my nails get really hard or I have multiple hang nails. Since using this cream I haven’t had either.

So what is so great about this new Visible Beauty Hand Cream? It appears Dove have been looking into the multiple layers of our human skin and realised that every layer needs moisture, not just the top which most creams treat. This new creation from Dove uses 3 moisturises, each with a unique power! Cue spooky sound effect. As usual I am going to skip the scientific mumbo-jumbo and leave that for Dove to explain. In simple terms the first layer seals the surface layer of skin to hold in moisture, the second is where the bulk of the action is because it penetrates skin to provide hydration. The last moisture layer goes deep down and works with our natural skin to do what it would do naturally ….. but better.

What Dove says …..

The skin’s protective barrier – the stratum corneum - needs moisture at every layer to be beautiful, but many lotions fail to effectively moisturise all three layers. Unlike other moisturisers, Dove Visible Beauty includes a patented Multi-Layer Complex which is designed to nourish every layer of skin’s protective barrier – the surface, the core and deep down where beautiful skin begins.

Dove’s Multi-Layer Complex combines a trio of powerful moisturisers to care for every layer of the skin’s protective barrier:

  • Glycerol Quat - a novel humectant designed to hold moisture at the surface of the skin in order to prevent dryness.
  • Glycerin – penetrates the skin and provides long lasting moisture, ensuring skin cells reach the surface layer hydrated.
  • Hydroxyethyl Urea – is designed to help hydrate these deeper down cells, enabling the natural processes of skin to function optimally.
